Oral Presentation Guidelines

  • Oral Presentations are expected to take around 15 minutes in total. The research presentation should be approximately 10-12 minutes and the remaining 3 – 5 minutes will be allotted for questions.
  • Oral Presenters are encouraged to create a digital poster or slide deck to be used at the time of their presentation.
  • Oral Presentation rooms will be separate from the Poster Presentation room and will have a projector for presentations.

Poster Presentation Guidelines

  • Poster presenters will be expected to create and print a research poster to bring to SRW on the day of their assigned session.
  • Research posters should be around 36 x 24 or 48 x 36 inches. Posters must not be larger than 4 feet x 4 feet.
  • Poster presenters will need to bring their research poster to the MSC preferably the morning of their assigned session or 15 minutes before.
  • Research Poster templates can be downloaded from the University Writing Center’s website or by searching “TAMU Research Poster Template” and downloading a template from your College or a different College.
  • Poster printing locations include: Copy Corner at the MSC or on Texas, Zachry Engineering Building, Langford Architecture Building, Office Depot, FedEx on University Dr., Walgreens, CVS, etc.

As a student, one can present their scholarly work and compete for prizes.

Students can participate in the oral or poster presentation competition

Any undergraduate or graduate student who is the primary author of a research project, research paper, capstone, class project, or class paper may submit an abstract to be considered for the oral or poster competition

Any group of students may submit an abstract for their research project, original work, class paper or class project to be considered for the oral or poster competition as well

Participants in the Student Research Week competition will be evaluated by at least two judges, one layman, and one topic judge

All participants will receive the judges’ evaluations and feedback after the competition at the closing

Competitors’ research does not need to have finalized or include complete data. Students are allowed and encouraged to present their research findings at the point in time they are at and include predictions.
