Judging Criteria for Presentations

Participants in the Student Research Week competition will be evaluated by two judges.

Topic Judge: responsible for evaluating the research component of the competitor's presentation or poster.

Layman Judge: responsible for evaluating how effectively competitors communicate their research to someone outside the field.


Basic Judging Criteria (including but not limited to):

(1) Ability to communicate ideas, verbally and/or in graphic form, in lay language (that is, in terms understandable to a person in any discipline).

(2) Clear, concise and well written summaries and presentations.

(3) The ability to field questions from within the research discipline as well as from the public.

(4) Demonstration that the competitor's research contributes to the body of knowledge in that field.


Feedback
All participants will receive feedback about their presentations.  Participants will receive the judges' evaluations after the competition.
